Photography plans and projects for 2025

I carry my camera everywhere. The problem is, I don’t do very interesting stuff day to day. I used to fly around the country and world almost weekly with my reserve unit but those days are behind me. Now I work in an office and spend my evenings watching Hulu like a good indoor suburban human. I drive from Harco Maryland to Virginia Beach more than half the weekends each year to pick up or drop off my daughter. There might be some opportunity there for more interesting subjects. I could also explore more of the things I am attracted to in Harford County. Homey coffee shops, character-rich dive bars. We have those in spades. At the moment, here are a few projects I think I will focus on this year. I have the memory of a goldfish and some amazing ADHD so things change but here we go.

Atmospheric Interiors and Architecture

I love clean, aesthetic, sometimes symmetrical interiors. I love moody atmospheric bars and book stores. I am going to try to make a point to make more images in these places. Specifically starting with hotels. I stay in hotels a few times per month. Sometimes they are cookie cutter Marriots. Sometimes they are more on the boutique side. Either way, I do not currently take enough photos of these places and when I do I am not deliberate enough.

Posed Shoots with Artificial Lighting

My Instagram and most of my photos from the past four years are very “snap shot”. Candid and unplanned. I have lighting and great spaces at my work and home. I have a tolerant wife that will model for me. I want to get some reps in this year on lighting and posing a model.

Street

I love street photography. Watching street photographers on Youtube and Instagram made me buy my first camera. I have never really tried it like I want to. This year I plan to.
